I have been challenged on my behavior

What can you do?

  • Keep an open mind: really listen to the other person.
  • Realize that boundaries are personal and therefore different for everyone.
  • If you didn’t mean to cross a line and you’re sorry, offer your sincere apologies.
  • Agree how you will deal with each other in the future.
  • If you don’t recognize the situation or feel wrongly accused, ask for help from a study adviser or other helpline. Click here for their details.

What can help you?

  • You can use the rules of giving feedback to give and receive feedback.
  • Write down for yourself what happened and what this does to you. Ask support from someone you trust. Such as a fellow student, friend, lecturer or supervisor.

Who can help you?

Ask support from someone you trust. Such as a fellow student, friend, lecturer or supervisor. It is also important to report what you experienced. That way, we gain insight into what has happened and we can take action where necessary. You can also make your report anonymously. You decide. There are several people you can turn to for this, within both UMC Utrecht and Utrecht University. Are you not sure who to contact? Then always contact your study adviser first. They can help you clarify your needs and help you on your way to getting the right help.
