What can you do?

Have you, personally, experienced undesirable behavior?

• Take your feelings seriously and talk to someone you trust.
• Speak with the person involved. Discuss what’s bothering you.
• If this doesn’t feel right or doesn’t help, then go to your supervisor.
• If you prefer not to do this for any reason, contact one of the confidential advisors. You decide what to share, and there are no obligations.

Were you present when something unpleasant happened?

• Talk to the person it happened to.
• Ask how they are doing and offer your help.
• If you didn’t say anything at the time, do it now. Make it discussable.
• If you’re unsure how to do this, find it difficult, or if the person involved prefers not to, ask your supervisor for help.
• If this is not possible or you’d rather not, contact one of the confidential advisors.

Who can help you?

Ask someone you know and trust for help. If talking to your manager doesn’t feel good or doesn’t help, you can always talk to the confidential advisors at UMC Utrecht. Even if you have doubts. It can help prevent a situation from getting worse. Remember that all conversations between employees and these support services are confidential.
