Search for support from someone you trust. This can be a fellow student, friend, teacher, or mentor. It is also important to report what you are experiencing. This way, we gain insight into what has happened and can take necessary action if needed. Reporting can always be done anonymously. You decide. There are different people you can turn to for this, both within UMC Utrecht and the University of Utrecht. View the overview here.

During your internship, you will have a lot of contact with patients, staff and fellow students. Of course, a lot goes well, but sometimes you can feel lonely if things don’t go well or if something bad happens. It is important to know that you are not alone. Ask for help when you need it. That’s important for your wellbeing! In addition to the people you can confide in, you can also contact the following people during your internship. Choose the person with whom you feel comfortable.
The AKO
The quickest way to discuss something is through the AKO or supervisor. This can sometimes be difficult, especially if something sensitive is involved. That is why in every hospital there is a confidential advisor or other contact person you can contact in an accessible way.
The LINK coordinator
The LINK coordinator of the residency has short lines of communication with the hospitals and therefore often knows a good solution to problems. The most recent contact details can be found here, or are on Blackboard.
