Here you will find practical information that can help you. Whether you are experiencing unwanted behavior yourself, someone comes to you with a problem, or you are being addressed about your behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>For whom is this information?\u00a0<\/strong><br>This information is for all UMC Utrecht employees, including those in training to become PhDs and medical residents. If you are a manager, teacher, or mentor, you can view the <a href=\"http:\/\/umcu.punktlich.nl\/en\/role-models\/\">exemplary roles<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What is unwanted behavior?<\/strong><br>Behavior may be undesirable in different ways. And there are many different types of undesirable behavior. From merely unpleasant to deeply hurtful. It may be a one-off thing, you may doubt whether you should do anything about it. Undesirable behavior comes in different forms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>With words <\/strong>&#8211; Someone makes unpleasant remarks to you, talks behind your back, gives you nicknames that make you uncomfortable, or frequently uses offensive language.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Through actions<\/strong> &#8211; Someone stares at you, excludes you, winks, or deliberately ignores you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Physical <\/strong>&#8211; Someone reacts aggressively, puts an arm around your shoulder when you don&#8217;t want them to, or touches you in an inappropriate manner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Through Media <\/strong>&#8211; Someone sends you sexually suggestive messages or insults you online.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Why do we share this information?<\/strong><br>Sometimes, people experience behavior they don&#8217;t like. It could be someone making a joke that feels wrong, and you choose not to laugh but find it hard to speak up. Or, someone might talk to you about your own actions. When we work together, we all have a part in creating a positive atmosphere. That&#8217;s why it&#8217;s crucial for everyone to talk about unwanted behavior and know where to find helpful information and support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Talking makes a difference<\/strong><br>It&#8217;s not acceptable if someone behaves in a way that feels wrong. Always tell someone or discuss it; it&#8217;s never okay. Even if it seems small, every report is important to us. We handle all reports. However, if you make an anonymous report, we cannot help you personally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This website has info and tips on what you can do and whom to talk to. Talk to someone you trust and figure out together what you need. Follow the steps in the menu.
